A New Week

A week ago, I figured the Nets would be dismantled by now. While one could certainly still argue that they should have gone the way of rebuilding, the current team has responded. Funny how things change. Vince Carter recently made statements that hint him NOT leaving New Jersey after this season. And tonight, VC dropped 40 pts on the crosstown rival, the New York Knicks, who still cannot solve the habitants of the Meadowlands. While Knicks fans have been upbeat recently, they must realize that despite the myriad of problems the Nets have had, they are still inferior to NJ.

Depending on how Carter is playing, if the Nets get Richard Jefferson back, they can win a playoff series in this strange, awful Eastern Conference. I refuse to get my hopes up because Nenad Kristic will not return, but it still made me smile to see the Nets continue their dominance over the Knicks in the Kidd Era. I fully trust Rod Thorn, one of the best executives in the NBA. Since he refused to trade either superstar, I will believe that he could take drastic steps in teh rebuilding process. And I will enjoy watching this current Nets team for one more season.

Bye Pacman (Hopefully)

So many times in life, we must witness a person with great talents that go to waste. I will be the first to admit that as an NFL fan, I have admired the ability of Pacman Jones. I watched this season as he and Vince Young singlehandedly rallied to beat my beloved Giants. The kid is amazing to watch, great cover ability and ball skills. Terrific return man, probably the best one not named Devin.

Pacman has had plenty of chances, but this past week should absolutely be his last. He should be kicked out of the league. Roger Goodall has to make an example of him. His behavior has been disgraceful and players have to realize that their actions have consequences. Let him realize what it is like for most people, you do the crime, you should do the time. Unfortunately, he has the all powerful NFL behind him, so he might get a 4 game suspension. This is the society which we live in. Goodall has the ability to do something about it and its about time he put his foot down.

Intro

Residing five minutes from the NJ Meadowlands, naturally I am a Giants fan first and foremost, as well as Devils and Nets. The Yankees might be my favorite overall team. I have heard all the insults about New Jersey, however, they do not bother me. I love my home state. I embrace Weird NJ. March Madness might be my favorite time of the year and the last two years, I have done quite well picking games. Other things:

I obsessively listen to sports radio, mostly Mike and the Mad Dog.

PS- I am already tired of Arod talk, 40 days before opening day. Cashman, why didn't you just get rid of him, for the sake of the greather mental health of everyone in the tristate area.

I still enjoy the writing of Bill Simmons, most of the time.

I obsessively read sports blogs, which prompted me to give my own a try.
